I can't remember if you said you looked at the product web site. It is at
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/websphere/wsappserver/

The about pages may help give you an overview of what WebSphere Application
Server is/does. Documentation Center can help you with details of using.

Assuming you have a more recent version of WAS these are the possible
porduct IDs so you know where to look on web site: 5733WA3 = V3.5 Advanced
Edition, 5733AS3 = V3.5 Standard Edition, 5733WA4 = V4.0 Advanced Edition
and 5733WS4=V4.0 Advanced Single Server Edition.

i would also appreciate more the use of tomcat, cause i have a little
experience with it. but why install tomcat if websphere is allready
installed. so i'm researching a bit about websphere.

redbook about Tomcat running on AS/400.
