Sorry, QDLS is not thread safe so threaded jobs cannot access it. Java jobs are automatically threaded so java.io.* classes cannot access files in QDLS. I know this is going to be a big surprise, but I am going to suggest a Toolbox class :-). The Toolbox IFSFile* classes access data via the file server which is single threaded so they can access files in QDLS. With a small amount of code change you can use Toolbox classes instead of java.io. * classes. David Wall Toolbox for Java iSeries ODBC Driver for Linux "McCallion, Martin" To: "'java400-l@midrange.com'" <java400-l@midrange.com> <martin.mccallion cc: @misys.com> Subject: Writing to QDLS with Java on the 400 Sent by: java400-l-admin@m idrange.com 05/29/2002 12:02 PM Please respond to java400-l Is there any truth in the rumour that you can't use Java with the QDLS filesystem? We have to support a legacy system that picks up files from there; our application just uses standard Java classes to create files in a specified directory, like /home/user-name under Unix, or C:\some-dir under Windows. But when we specify /QDLS/AFOLDER on the AS/400, we invariably get an exception saying "Folder not found" (it does exist). It works perfectly well if we use another filesystem, like /QOpenSys/some-dir. I haven't been able to find anything official about this, but a web search did lead me to an AS/400 zip application written in Java, which claimed that, "Java doesn't work with QDLS". Does anyone know the truth?
