Thanks for all the answers, the "Workload Estimator" is a good help. I didn't
know this tool before.

So is it right that a java application serving some clients using sockets
does run as batch and doesn't require interactive cpu power?

Thats easy to answer: it's allways twice as fast as it is at the moment
