Thanks for the Info, I'll look into CVSNT when I'm back in the Office
tomorrow.

Like you I would rather use a native server on the AS400, but I don't have
the skills to attempt to port it myself. It would be nice to see IBM doing a
port, as they have with Apache & Tomcat. That together with an Eclipse-based
version of WDT/400 will make a excellent development package. Unfortunately,
they might consider that to be stepping on some big toes (Aldon,
Softlanding, etc) is the iSeries tool vendor community. Oh well...

You can run a CVS Server on NT just fine. I don't remember
where I found the setup instructions, but I will post the link
when I find it. Porting CVS to the iSeries does have some
merit and has been discussed in detail on the OSS400
list (http://archive.midrange.com/oss400).

I have used a shared drive on my iSeries system to store
CVS repositories managed by NT. It works, but I would
rather use a native CVS server.

I have been working on support that would allow you to
do something like:

crtrpgmod module(exccmd) srcstmf('/istkt/qrpglesrc/exccmd.irp')...

This would allow you to use a CVS server to manage all
source on the iSeries. I used the command exits and am
trying to find the best way to collect the command string
from the command line. Unfortuanately, the exit programs
strip off invalid keywords like srcstmf.

Each day, as I dig deeper into cool new stuff like Tomcat & Eclipse, I
keep
hearing about CVS.

I've had a nose around the CVS website (www.cvshome.org) and it seems
to me
to be a very Unix/Linux oriented tool. In particular, it seems fairly
dismissive of running CVS using an NT server (clients are OK).

Unfortunately, my environment, like many AS/400 & iSeries shops,
consists of
Windows desktops connected to the 400. Not a Unix box in sight.

Has anyone out there had any good/bad experience running CVS on NT?
Alternatively, has anyone tried to run the AIX version on their
iSeries, and
if so how.
