That will tell you the maximum level that the database supports. I'm not sure whether it is affected by the actuall journalling status of the tables, though. There's an AS400File object, with methods like isCommitmentControlStarted(), that might be helpful. That wouldn't be database-independent, of course, but you could work around that with spot of dynamic loading. HTH.
