Are you running in an applet inside Netscape and are you running with a JVM plug-in? In that environment you see these messages because Toolbox is asking the old Netscape security model for permission to make a socket connection. To back up, the default browser inside Netscape has their own security model. Toolbox detects it is running inside Netscape and asks permission via their model to make a socket connection. That was extra processing we had to do inside Netscape since in all other JVMs you don't have to ask permission to connect a socket. When you stick a JVM plug-in inside Netscape, a "normal" security model replaces Netscape's private one. Toolbox still detects the private one and asks for permission, but nothing really happens because the classes are now stubs. The message you see is Netscape's way of saying you don't need to ask for permission any more. So, it's not that anyone is migrating to a new model, its that an old add-on no longer exists. If you are not running inside Netscape then somehow the Netscape security model stubs (the ones that just dump a warning message) are in your classpath. I would get rid of them. Whenever I connect to our 400, I get the following informational message: Netscape security model is no longer supported. Please migrate to the Java 2 security model instead. Is this something I need to worry about? Is IBM migrating to the Java 2 security model?
