I can answer 1 and 4. >> Hi, >> I am writing a platform independent application in java that will be used >> on NT, Unix and AS400. Some of the AS400 team are reluctant to use newer >> technology. It is a separate licensed program and is available only as a licensed program (you cannot download it off the web someplace as a set of jars and bins), but there is no extra charge for it. >> >> 2) I am using the Xerces parser, Xalan for XSLT and javax. Does Java work >> well on a regular AS400? In the short term the difference is branding. On day x the sticker on the box said AS/400. On day x + 1 the sticker on the box said iSeries. Much of the hardware is the same and they both run operating system, OS/400. AS/400 runs Java just as well as iSeries does. As time goes on the difference increases, and over time and the iSeries will become clearly better. All enhancements, both hardware and software, are only in the iSeries brand. Over time iSeries will become better, faster, and cheaper. >> >> Thanks in advance, >> Pat O'Dowd David Wall AS/400 Toolbox for Java
