Not using Websphere, but had similar pdf problem in rpg/cgi program.
Adobe & Microsoft seem not to communicate, each on their own release
schedule, and upon install of Adobe, defaults an option the does not work in
all IE versions. We fixed it by changing option in Adobe to always display
pdf "in a new window". When in same window, was blank.
