Returning application/pdf through WebSphere and IE

All,

Environment:
OS/400 V4R5
WebSphere 3.5.4

Our application dynamically generates a PDF file in memory and the servlet
sends the pdf byte stream back to the browser. This works fine in the
VisualAge 4.0 WebSphere Test Environment but it produces a blank page when
it runs on the AS/400 when viewed from Internet Explorer 6.0 (Netscape works
fine even it runs on the AS/400).

I have searched around and saw that there are many questions regarding this
but not many answers. I have done the following:

1. The content type is set correctly.
2. I did set the content length of the response object.
3. I did flush the output stream.

Has anybody been able to stream dynamically generated pdf's back to IE from
WebSphere running on the AS/400? Please tell me what you had to do to make
it work.

I am using the iText library but I do not think that the problem is there.
