In my opinion please don't write java programs on AS/400 :-) Other than servlets only if you are running Websphere on AS/400. You can even write complex socket programs using ILE RPG. Can we ask for some real job opportunites in this forum! Someone with VB/RPG/Java background is looking for a job. We used crtjvapgm and set optimization to 30. The java is then called from a CL startup script. We have noticed that the first transaction that comes through the server is extremely sluggish. Everything after the first one processes fine. In addition, it seems to take forever for the program to start up and initialize each day. Is there something I am missing about ensuring the program runs well on a AS/400? Is there anything I can do to improve performance?
