Chris, are you using the latest JTOpen version? If so, I suggest you go to the following page and report your problem. The JTOpen team is very responsive to these kinds of things. http://oss.software.ibm.com/jt400/bugs.html I'm sure you'll get an explanation here as well - the issue of requiring an AS400 for AS400Text has been bounced around many times. Personally, I get confused as to whether there would be a better way of handling it, such as setting a static object with the appropriate information for those of us who know we're only going to talk to one host.
