    Here is the code I am using to read the file:


    DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(new IFSFileInputStream(as400,
filename));
    int cnt = 0;

    while ((line = in.readLine()) != null) {
      messageText += line + Armoury.LINEFEED;
      cnt++;
      System.out.println("Line " + cnt + ": " + line);
    }

I also tried the IFSTextFileInputStream.  I looked at the output in debug
