Title: RE: JAVAC under JDK 1.3 doesn't work

Hi Simon,

I already changed my CCSID to 285 - no change in the result. BTW, the default CCSID is not passed through to the Shell jobs.

Any other ideas?

Regards,
Darrell.

Hello Darrell,

I don't know why 1.2 works and 1.3 doesn't.  Perhaps 1.3 is more sensitive
to things?  However, I certainly wouldn't be running my job with
CCSID(65535), it's not good practice.  That value is generally picked up
from the QCCSID system value which really should be set to the appropriate
CCSID for your base language (probably CCSID 37 given your email address).
When your job has CCSID(65535) the system mostly uses your job's default
CCSID (which is probably 37 anyway).

CCSID 819 is ISO Latin 1 which is the 'correct' CCSID for java source.  I
wouldn't expect JAVAC to perform codepage conversion but perhaps 1.3
doesn't like the job CCSID?

Simon Coulter.
