Mark, what are you running VAJ on? I've been using VAJ for nearly three
years, and it's locked up twice on me in that time. Since I've started
running under Windows/2000, VAJ hasn't locked up at all. I have no problem
with the debugger, except when debugging constructors.

A NoClassDefFound error is always because you didn't set the classpath on
the properties tab. You simply hit Compute Now and it will set the
classpath correctly. Then you have to make sure to hit OK to save the
changes. Until you do that, the application will fail with a
NoClassDefFound. When I teach VAJ, this is the first thing I teach because
it is the most non-intuitive thing about the package. All my students know
that NoClassDefFound=Compute Now.

If you like VB, fine, but personally I prefer the VAJ environment. I prefer
a repository-based editor for a number of reasons, most of which have to do
with object-oriented development concepts. VAJ is excellent for developing
good, solid OO hierarchies.

I'm sorry you haven't been happy with VAJ. If I can help in any way, let me
know. I'm running out right now for a few hours, but feel free to drop a
line here or at my primary email address (joepluta@plutabrothers.com) and
I'll help if I can.

Joe
