  • Subject: web app paging through results

I am implementing an order status lookup for our salesmen and plan to
use the JDBC 2.0 scrollable result set for this. What I'm thinking of
doing is passing the result set around in a session variable, so the
user can just hit "next 10" and "previous 10"; the session would also
keep track of "page number", which I could use for ResultSet.absolute()
when displaying each page.

My question is, what happens if the user just goes to a different site
instead of exiting this function? What happens to the ResultSet? Is
this a resource leak on the '400? How is this sort of thing usually
handled?
