Use these commands: CHGOWN CHGPGP CHGAUT All of these commands accept wildcards as in /Production/* However, they do not process subfolders, so you need to execute the commands for each subfolder. One problem with your solution is if developers are creating new objects in these folders. The IFS does not honor your OS/400 user profile settings and make the owner of the object the group profile. So the object will be owned by whoever creates it. You would have to run a command to change it to QPGMR after the fact. For this reason, you might want to give *PUBLIC all authority within your "Development" folders, and then if you use something like TurnOver to "promote" the items, you can then automate the process of changing the owner and authorities to something more restrictive in the "Production" folders. These aren't really Java-related questions, so you should email me in private if you have any additional questions. Hope this helps. What I'd like to do is give all authority to a group (QPGMR) and make the group the owner. Then, I want to limit *PUBLIC to read access only (*RX for directories). That way, developers can update the objects (they're in QPGMR) and *public can see what they need to see. Eventually, we'd like to automate this process (we use Turnover today and saw a demo of the eCM product) but I need a quick solution.... thanks dan +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +--- +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +---
