The answer to this is the First Law of Life, the Universe, and Everything:
It depends.

For example, will your customers be ordering two or three items every couple
of months?  Or will they be ordering 150 items every week?  Does your
catalogue contain 100 items or 10,000?  Do your customers have computers
that will be generating the orders in a standard format?  Several standard
formats?  Or will they be sitting at a screen to send them?

There are plenty of other questions that would make a difference to what you
decide to do.
