The answer to this is the First Law of Life, the Universe, and Everything: It depends. For example, will your customers be ordering two or three items every couple of months? Or will they be ordering 150 items every week? Does your catalogue contain 100 items or 10,000? Do your customers have computers that will be generating the orders in a standard format? Several standard formats? Or will they be sitting at a screen to send them? There are plenty of other questions that would make a difference to what you decide to do.
