I have made lots of $$$$ writing RPG, so I'm loathe to criticize my bread and butter..... My favorite tool in my toolbox is the one I need right now. I was hanging my speakers for my home entertainment system the other day... I loved my drill when I needed it. Once the hole were drilled and the screws put in, I didn't care where the drill went. I only cared about the speakers and the sound I was going to get from my system. RPG is a fabulous languge to write it... limited? sure... but nothing beats it's clean syntax and it's "shorthand" approach to coding. Java is a great, too. Knowing Java make the Internet a less mysterious place, and gives me the tools I need to develop the channels I need to get to my customers via Internet. To me, it only makes sense to use the right tool for the right job. Imagine if I had used a hammer to drill the holes for my speakers... or worse, a table saw..... It's like arguing who the best bass player is... (everyone knows it's Flea :-)) my two cents, dan -----Original Message----- From: Stone, Brad V (TC) [mailto:bvstone@taylorcorp.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 14, 2001 3:07 PM To: 'JAVA400-L@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Aaron Bartell's RPG/Java comparison Right. So you're supporting my point that the langauge used has little to do with it and the programming does. +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +---
