Only a couple c'tors and methods are deprecated, not the whole class. When
doing text conversion the Toolbox uses the AS/400's job ccsid to figure out
what EBCDIC ccsid to use. If AS400Text does not have an AS400 object, it
cannot get to the AS/400 to get a job ccsid. In this case it takes a guess
at what ccsid to use. Because guessing is not always accurate, c'tors and
methods were deprecated to encourage good use of the object (give it an
AS400 object).

There is a link to the Toolbox pub and javadoc at
http://www.ibm.com/iseries/toolbox.

Subject: ToolBox class: AS400Text deprecated. What is the replacement?

When I try to call RPG in Java I use AS400Text class to wrap parameters (I
am following IBM online documentation) I get the message "API deprecated"
when I compile the java file.

Where is the document to find the related info?
What API should I used in place of AS400Text?

TIA

Bruce
