The Native JDBC driver uses the names in the relational database directory
to figure out where to connect to. This is similar to how the CLI resolves
connections. You need an entry for location *LOCAL in order to connect to
the local database (I think - I don't believe there is any special
consideration given for the local database anyway).

Through entries in the relational database directory, you can connect the
Native JDBC driver to other AS/400s or heterogeneous systems through DRDA.

The Toolbox JDBC driver does not use the relational database directory to
connect. I believe that everything it does is based off of TCP/IP names
for the system that you are connecting to. I don't believe they have
another mode of operation other that this.

Hello,

Where I can find the
If I use non-native driver com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver() to access
AS400 from PC, how the AS400 is located and connected through this name?

TIA
