hi folks, I discovered that if you use a "method=post" on your form statement it does not append the coordinates of the graphic to the url Thanks -----Original Message----- From: owner-java400-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-java400-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Gary L Peskin Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2000 7:16 AM To: JAVA400-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: HTML <input> "Gibbons, Michael" wrote: > This may not be the place to ask this question but I was wondering if > someone knows why when you use a <input type="image" src="...."> tag it does > not return the coordinates of the graphic (appended to url) all the time. Per the current HTML standard (http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/interact/forms.html#input-control-types), browsers are supposed to append the coordinates to the URL if the image was clicked with a pointing device. The appended information includes the coordinates, specified with the value of the name attribute. Perhaps if you omit the name attribute from your input tag, the browser won't send the coordinates because it can't properly format them.
