How to put using FTP

Dear all.

I am trying to write a programm in Java which should transfer a file from the
machine on
which resides my Java pgm to a different platform using FTP PUT.

The documentation which I am using only tells me how to GET stuff using URLs.

Can anybody help me how to do the PUT ? Or am I simply missing something
important ?
