Hi Chuck - >Historically (clear back to the S/38 if I remember; definitely since day one >with the AS/400) "integrity" was KEY (IBM-speak) for a get it and apply it ASAP, >'nough said, deal... Actually, it's IBM-speak for "we FUBARed it good and now we're trying to fix it without admitting what we did." >As more and more folks come to the AS/400 new, I think the subtle meaning of >that is no longer interpreted the way it was... They walk the line between >tipping off the wrong crowd with too much information and not giving enough to >make you want to apply said PTF (unless you take "integrity" to be Nike for Just >DO It !!) :-) I always apply "integrity" HIPERs, but I also like to know enough about the problem to know if it really applies to my system and what is involved, which is why I think IBM should give as much information as I did. As to why they don't, see my first paragraph. OTOH, I agree that there should not be too much information given. IMO, the people who have posted all the details about how to use DMPSYSOBJ to see the cleartext passwords should not have done so. That's why to all the people who have emailed privately for the details, I'm saying "Sorry, you won't get them from me." Ken Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, Inc.
