RE: Java Programs that Access Files created in QTEMP

You can read files in QTEMP as long as you use the same connection
that was used by the program who created the files in QTEMP.

What we do is:

we get a connection.
By using this connection we call a stored procedure.
This stored procedure create files in QTEMP.

When the stored proc returns we keep the connection and give it
to the methods that will read the tables in QTEMP.

Then we release the connection.

If you use two different connections you won't be able to read the
files in QTEMP

Yes, but the question is which QTEMP?

If you are running programs over a single  AS/400 connection (within the same
AS/400 job), then there is only one QTEMP, and there should be no problems.  The
problems occur when you, for example, create a file in QTEMP from a program run
over a connection, and then try to access it with a JDBC request, which is
served by a different job with its own QTEMP; of course the file is not going to
be there.

As with most thing, it comes down to figuring out what you are trying to do, and
picking an appropriate solution.
