Dan, you can use the toolbox file I/O classes such as KeyedFile and SequentialFile and use code like the code from one of the previous replies. It's rather involved, and requires the use of many classes, some of which aren't particularly intuitive (such as QSYSObjectPathName). Alternatively, you can download the latest version of PBD from http://www.zappie.net/revitalization (follow the links to Alpha 2 download), and use the JDB400 package. It supports writing code similar to RPG syntax. For example, to change the credit hold flag to blank for all orders for customer number "ABC0012", do the following: // Define key String custKey = "ABC0012"; // Open file JDB400File orderFile = new JDB400KeyedFile("MYLIB/ORDHDRL1"); // Read records orderFile.SETLL(custKey); while (orderFile.READE(custKey)) { // Set field to blank and update orderFile.setField("CRHOLD", " "); orderFile.UPDAT(); } That's it. And while that's a lot easier to use, more importantly I give you all the source so that you can learn from it and even modify it for your own particular purposes.
