  • Subject: Automatically connect to an AS/400 using DUN under Windows NT

Hi all,

I have an application running on a Windows NT platform that successfully retrieves data from an AS/400 using the AS/400 toolbox to connect. Currently the only way that the application will work is if I manually connect using dial up networking (DUN) (I don't know of any other way to do this).

I want the toolbox signon panel to prompt for the DUN connection to be initiated by the user, passing it the parameters entered by the user (ie IP address, Signon and password). Currently if DUN is not started then nothing happens.

Ideally, I would like to do the whole thing under the covers and get Java to automatically connect, or can NT do this? If not is there a way I can code this myself? Also, do I have to use DUN or is their an alternative method? I should point out that the NT workstation is running in a stand-alone environment and is not part of the network on the AS/400, so TCP/IP is the only medium possible (or am I wrong?)

Regards

Martyn
