Your syntax is incorrect. The method getField(String)
returns a string. The 'new' keyword says I want to
create a new instance of an object. The compiler is
saying ok, what type (class) of object do you want to
create.

The following statement says:
String descrField = (String) record.getField("SCDESC"
);

ask the 'record' variable for the value in field
"SCDESC" and assign that value to a string named
descrField. The getField method will create the new
instance, we don't need to specify anything else
('new').

Note the Java convention to start variables with a
lower case character. 'Type' (Class) names begin with
an Uppercase.
