Hi, First of all, I would try creating the "HelloWorld" program with a simple editor, like "Notepad"(windows), and then copy that to your source file. I never liked doing all the conversion to ascii stuff on the as/400. -----Original Message----- From: owner-java400-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-java400-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of kkalyan@md.in.dsqsoft.com Sent: Monday, March 06, 2000 11:23 AM To: JAVA400-L@midrange.com Subject: Hello Worl - Java Program - Help me please... Hi all, I have started with my Java/400, and I have run the Hello world that is shipped along with the system. When I try to create my own Hello world program, I could not succeed in it. I have done the following. 1. I have created a source physical file with the name KKRSRC. 2. I have created a txt called Hello.java 3. I have converted that to a stream file with the same name 'Hello.java' in the Ascii mode. (Here I dont know how to specify the path for the stream file that is going to get created) 4. Also I tried to set the class path. In fact I created one directory called Kalyan, but I dont know how to place the stream file into that directorty. 5. I tried to give the command javac Hello.java 6. It gives an error message saying 'Cant read Hello.java' Can some one please guide me, as it is the start for me.
