I have been working in VB and RPG. I am trying to learn Visual Age for Java. Is there any good book to learn Visual Age for Java. -----Original Message----- From: owner-java400-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-java400-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Jim Mason Sent: Friday, November 19, 1999 9:50 AM To: INTERNET:JAVA400-L@midrange.com Subject: choice of IDE Hi Glenn. You have many choices that are good but for AS/400 RPG programmers moving to Java I believe VisualAge for Java Enterprise can't be beat. The reason is very good visual builders can help new programmers develop applications quickly before they are Java or OO experts for Servlets, Applets, RMI, Jdbc, object persistence etc. Other IDE's require more Java skills before you can produce the equivalent applications .... I train AS/400 RPG Programmers on Java and it's clear that is the fastest tool to transition with. If you have other background, C++, Visual Basic etc, the other IDE's particlularly JBuilder are very good choices for those folks.....
