You actually need to understand a few things before you get going here. First of all, Visual Age for Java (also known as VAJ) doesn't run on the AS/400. It runs on the PC. You can use it to develop classes which WILL run on the AS/400. You will probably use the IBM's Java Toolkit for the AS/400 (also known as JT400). But no programs with a graphical user interface will run on the AS/400. This is a VERY important point to understand. JT400 comes as part of the Java product on the AS/400, although it's not the latest release (it's more than enough to get started with, though). You can run programs on the workstation which use JT400 to access the AS/400, or you can run programs on the AS/400 which use JT400. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. A good way to get started is to visit my site at http://www.zappie.net/Java/Javatorium/installi.htm, which guides you through downloading and installing Java and Java/400 on your PC, and even has test programs to make sure everything was installed correctly. Everything you need to get started is available for free on the Web. Once you've gotten Java installed, we can discuss how to get VAJ working correctly based on what it is you are trying to accomplish. Good luck!
