Buck look at the following URL for a good explanation and examples of socket
programming with Java.  I am at the "Hello World" (beep!) stage in Java, and
I was able to follow this article and example pretty easily.

This doesn't answer your question, but you can do also sockets in RPG IV.
Check out the archives at www.midrange.com and search either on sockets or
"Chris Bipes".  He's been doing a bunch of sockets stuff recently.

I am still at the "Hello World" stages in Java, so if there's any sample
code to demonstrate how to do sockets, I'd love to see it posted!
