As for a good book for beginning Java programmers, I liked "Java 1.2 in 24 Hours" by Rogers Cadenhead.  It is a good introductory to JAVA and it help me a lot.  I had no past OOP experience or C experience, if you do this book may be to basic for you.  Once you get going with Java a great reference book is "Java 1.2 Unleashed" by Jamie Jaworski.  It has information and example code for just about everything you could want to do with Java.  It is a great book.

I am an AS400 RPG programmer. Now I want to goto E-commerce. I heard a lot about JAVA, JAVA Beans, HTML,COM,DCOM. But I am unable to make a direction from what I should start and how should I go about it.  What should I have on my PC or As400 to run the java program.

 

Can Somebody guide me that How can I start and from where to start and what are best books to start with.
