Simone,

I have been recently in touch with Paula Richards in Rochester and she
confirmed me that there wasn't any intention to have CBC natively on the
AS/400. Websphere will probably contain IIOP (or RMI over IIOP)in version
3.0.

Actually both ORBs from IONA and INPRISE are certified by IBM. You will find
more informatio on these two sites:

http://www.as400.ibm.com/developer/java/topics/corba.html
http://www.as400.ibm.com/developer/java/solutions/iona.html

EJB and JSP should be available in both Advanced and Enterprise (still in
discussion in the labs). I think that Enterprise will be aimed at companies
looking at Tuxedo, TX Series, etc...

Yes we do have a contract support with INPRISE but we mainly use the
Newsgroups from INPRISE or the IBM VisualAge for Java Newsgroup (or simply
the CORBA Newsgroup).

Best Regards

Serge

Hi Gilles, hi Serge, hi all!

Thanks Serge for the list!

The caveats re WebSphere on AS/400 relate to how much functionality is
included on the WebSphere 'flavours' available on the AS/400, and supported.

I'd love to see the Enterprise edition available, but that includes
Component
Broker and there are no plans for CB on the AS/400, etc... don't get me
started!

As for EJBs and JSPs - is that from Advanced or Enterprise? Serge?

ServletExpress is looking good, though.

Gilles, I know I said I had colleagues working on WebSphere on the AS/400 -
strike that! As of today, count me in too, though from the infrastructure
point of view. I've just heard.

The orb we use is actually OrbixWeb, with VERY limited support from IONA
(then again, we're still at the R&D stages on that platform). Do you get any

support from Inprise? Did you have to negociate that especially?

Regards to all,

Simone
