I have used AS/400 (S/38) since 1986. To me it is a very interesting approach. It would very helpful if you can share your experience when your project is in progress. I did personally plan the same way you did. On part time basis, I played with the items you listed for around one year. I went to final phase which I plan to put a client object on AS/400. I feel a little bit frustrated when I run a test. Because I can not run a simple java program on AS/400 V4R2. This program only sends a string to system out. I will try again when my AS/400 is upgraded to V4R3.
