>> >Anyone know of a good OO concepts book or course? >> A book I've used is called: >> Object-Oriented Technology: A Manager's Guide. >I'm currently reading and recommend >Business Engineering with Object Technology >by the same author: David A. Taylor. >It's well-written and includes some design process and business >scenarios which help tie objects to "real life" stuff. These books really help with the "why" of OO, going beyond screen widgets. This is in many ways more important than JAPL syntax, which is pretty easy to handle. Dr. Taylor presented a woefully underattended session at Common SF (20-30 in a 200-300 room). Not well publicized, believe only a Green Streak listing. Very good speaker, nice extended small group q&a afterward as room wasn't booked. He's a frequent columnist for Object Magazine, published by SIGS <www.sigs.com> SIGS also publishes Java Report, a good Java magazine, which recently had an interesting point/counterpoint with him vs. a M$oftie on Pure Java vs. Win Java.
