David,
I too picked up that book but only after I read "Hooked on Java" by Van
Hoff, Shaio and Starbuck. I thought the latter wuz a good place to start
being that it was a little more basic and eased its way in to the
concepts. It's definitely not as in depth as the Teach Yourself book,
but I did get a good deal of info out of it. As far as the Teach
Yourself goes, I read quite a bit of it too. I wasn't all that
impressed though. I've done some programming in C but I'm finding Java
a bit trickier to grasp. Although, now that we have this mailing list,
maybe I can get some of my questions answered a bit quicker and more
precisely. BTW, great idea in case nobody's given you a pat on the
back!
