I attended a session on EGL in Nov 2010 in Vegas, where Joe Pluta demonstrated IBM's EGL hooking into existing ILE RPG routines, where the idea of a library of RPG routines accessible to either your green screen routines or to EGL, was very appealing. This could provide a handy way to re-engineer our system incrementally.
Now with EGL-Open, interest is renewed. I understand that EGL Open has not had that capability until now , but it seems it may now be available with V8.
First Q, would anyone like to share any such early successes with EGL-Open calling ILE routines on their i (if so, is it complex or simple) , and,
Second Q, is anyone crazy enough to have used ILE COBOL rather than RPG ?
