8.5.3 is on my radar for this year, and I agree that 8.5.3 is probably a
much better client than 8.0.1 (I have 8.5.2 on my pc currently) - but I'm
the only one who uses the eclipse based client - everyone else uses the
basic client. The eclipse based client would probably overwhelm most users
due to it's difference in it's presentation.
Healthcare is a weird industry - most people are highly trained and
skilled in their work, but when it comes to IT the vast majority don't
care about how it could benefit them. Most are overwhelmed by the day to
day aspects of their job that the last thing they want to do is learn
another IT application (email in this case).
I've been passionate about trying to educate users that Notes is more than
just email (ie collaboration), but they just see it as something else to
learn which means more work for them.....
I've also promoted sametime, but then got pushback because people don't
want to be interrupted by chat sessions....
So what to do....
My thought is give them the client they are comfortable with, and
hopefully they won't notice what the back-end server is.
I am starting to deploy a few discussion databases so hopefully when some
folks see us using them that might spark an interest. I'm pushing for
sametime for the same reason.
Thanks, Jerry
