Bad perception...are all mail files on 8.0 as well or are they earlier releases? Are users trained about what Notes has to offer? Is it slow because of under powered machines?

I'm just digging here. Can you give some detail why the perception is negative?

Getting on 8.5.x is a good start. Integrate with Connections and Sametime for free. You should talk with Mat Newman about changing perceptions about Notes. He's a great Notes "motivator" of sorts.

Thanks Chris & Kim for the input about IMAP & POP performance.

We are suffering from a bad perception of Notes and my supervisor want's
to know if we can improve it by using Outlook. The good news is that we've
concluded that exchange is out of the question, but Zimbra is still open
for discussion.

I'm concerned that anything less (ie thunderbird, zimbra etc) would also
receive a less than warm reception.

Thanks, Jerry
