Traveler works well for a java servlet running in the Domino container
under HTTP.
It has some drawbacks, and is difficult to monitor. I created a custom
monitoring agent for the http log to look
for specific device errors (like password login errors).

You need to proxy through a firewall open to Domino HTTPS so be sure you
are using a good password scheme and
lock down your server tight.

We use the iPhone with Traveler and so far email, calendar, address book
synch work well but creating meetings on the iPhone does
not work in the current version.

I don't see anything in the Traveler software that would prevent it from
running on an iSeries Box or other platform like MS DLL files, it may just
be a matter
of porting it. There is a whitepaper on perfomance, it will run like
gangbusters on Windows 64 bit and can support thousands of users
concurrently.

Couple questions concerning Notes Traveler - Is it going to be brought to
the I-Series or will it stay on Windows for awhile? When will the support

for Android be released? Anyone running it currently & would share their
experiences?

Thanks

Steve Jones

I highly doubt that Traveler will be ported to the i. However, with 8.5.2,
IBM is supposed to have Traveler running on Linux. Perhaps this can be a
first step to them having it ported to other platforms such as p and i.

I haven't heard much about the Droid. You can currently buy an app ($10)
to
make this work, and I understand IBM may be working on an app.

If you are running 8.5.1 (with the latest Domino fixpacks), Android will
work on it, although it isn't "supported." Support for it will be in 8.5.2
which will include a native app. Palm's Pre will work, too, in the same
fashion, but it isn't supported either.

I think that some people are using the app TouchDown to synch calendar and
contacts between Domino and Android. This link might help:

I hope that this helps.
