We might move the archives to a Windows based system someday.
</snip>

We tried that hell. Logic was why not use the "cheap disk" with a Windows
based system? After all, it's only archive data.
- Archive process ran for days, not hours.
- Trying to open your All Documents view and having to run the rebuild
index was best only attempted prior to the start of a long holiday weekend
in which you could leave your PC up all that time.
- Just generally accessing your archive was very slow.
Prior to the Windows solution we tried Linux on the same hardware. Logic
being that Linux was free. Well, no one here knew (or cared to learn)
enough about linux to run that machine. After a couple of us circled the
boss and started playing "dueling banjos" he relented and put on Windows.

After putting it on the i the performance was quite acceptable. Then
again, our i has 90 disk arms (all 70GB's)
