Seems that after applying the latest scan engine and bouncing the server 
that this message is no longer generated.
Funny thing I didn't recall when I downloaded the scan engine is that I 
thought, and subsequently checked and see that I am configured to 
automatically download and install the latest scan engine updates. I 
wonder if that was what was broken and thus the source of the Active 
Update error message...
