Just a reminder,....

V5R3 uses about 5% more main storage than V5R2.

If you are at all memory constrained ...

Disk i/o will increase.

High disk utilization rates usually mean higher i/o rates.......

Watch your I/O guidelines for the controllers/disks in your system.

Re: Upgrade from V5R2 to V5R3

I think the reference to "Critical" was in regards to IBM's "Guide Line"
of 80% usage in an ASP or System. 80% is a guide line and totally
"depends" on that system. Yes we should try to stay below that mark when
possible. In this case he will be adding less than %1 usage (best guess),
I don't think it will break the bank.

As far as the critical level, that can be tweaked.
STRSST
3. Work with disk units
2. Work with disk configuration
3. Work with ASP threshold
1=Select

                          Change Storage Threshold

                           ----Protected--- ---Unprotected--
ASP Threshold Overflow Size %Used Size %Used
  1 90% No 776214 71.16% 0 0.00%

This is an unprotected ASP. The threshold represents the amount
of unprotected storage used before an attention message is sent
to the system operator.

Type choice, press Enter.

  New threshold . . . . . . . . ____ 1-100

Once it hits that threshold level stuff starts shutting down. See also
