So on the physical remote machine I need to have that folder with qnotes 
as the owner? Or do you mean to make sure that my local FASmail IFS 
directory has qnotes as the owner and then remount? That's my current 
setup - qnotes owns the native IFS folder:

Object . . . . . . . . . . . . :   /LOTUS/DOMINO/hqmail01/FASmail 
Owner  . . . . . . . . . . . . :   QNOTES 
Primary group  . . . . . . . . :   *NONE 
Authorization list . . . . . . :   *NONE 

Then after mounting it, it switches to qsecofr.
