"A/C failed in the computer room and we had to shut everythng down for
five hours until it was fixed"

Basically, your iSeries should have been fine... But, here's some data
about temperatures for iSeries:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/eserver/v1r3s/index.jsp?topic=/iphad_web/tempandhumiditydesign.htm

If the server is active:
- and the room has A/C on, you should be able to run up to 89.6* F.
- and the room has no A/C (or A/C is broke), you should be able to run up
to 105.8* F.

"When the facilities are shut down, the nonoperating environmental
specifications must be followed to prevent damage to the server and to
ensure reliable operation when power is restored"
- keep server under 109.4*F
