Domino 6.5.4 FP1 hangs on V5R3

Greetings.
Has anyone seen this symptom. V5R3 machine lightly loaded with 3GB of memory and 460 cpw. CPU runs about 10% most of the time. About once a day all the Domino services just stops responding. NETSTAT *CNN shows inbound bytes but 0 outbound. WRKDOMCSL shows nothing unusual and the console is not stuck. The various jobs (HTTP SMTP POP3 Etc all are using small amounts of CPU as usual. ENDDOMSVR xxx does nothing. ENDDOMSVR *IMMED stops the server in seconds. After restarting it's happy as a clam for 10 to 12 hours. 

THoughs anyone?
