I tried two updaters for a while, but it just worked twice as ha= rd, never catching up. I mentioned this in passing to a Notes support engineer when callin= g on another problem and it turns out to just be a matter of the loggin= g level. Everyone's servers are doing this, but the server in questio= n is showing it because it had this in the notes.ini: log_update=1 I was informed that changing the value to zero would have no effect= , but removing it got rid of the messages. Thanks for the update_suppression_* info Sean, I plan on checking i= nto that a little more. ===================== =============== Tom Kreimer Information Alternatives -----domino400-bounces+tkreimer=infoalt.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrot= e: ----- To: domino400@xxxxxxxxxxxx From: seanmurphy@xxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: domino400-bounces+tkreimer=infoalt.com@midrange.= com Date: 05/17/2005 10:02AM Subject: Re: Server constantly updating views Tom, With only 1 CPU you will have to try UPDATE_SUPRESSION_TIME== value in minutes which will batch up the update requests and make the job more efficient. Also, generally speaking any database index set to update immediate= ly will be queued for indexing whenever there is a change to the database. You may want to = use Update_Suppression_Time to limit those duplicate requests.<b= r> Update_Suppression_Limit overrides the NOTES.INI Update_Supp ression_Time setting if a certain number of duplicate requests to update in= dexes and views are received. (Duplicate requests are a waste of clock= cycles.) We have also changed may views on large databases to update hourly = or daily. (Chronos job run on a scheduled basis).
