As promised, I am posting my production results on this latest Scanmail Hotfix 1584. It has been two weeks since we applied Hotfix 1584, so far so good no crashes during PUPDATE. However PUPDATE does not delete old pattern files out the /smln/scanmail and /smln/AU folders. To be sure this was not a QNOTES rights issue, I changed QNOTES back to SECOFR will ALLOBJ. No dice, pupdate will not clean up the files. I will have to add this to the monthy cleanup maintenance :( Note: this hotfix is not installed as a PTF. It can only be removed manually. It does not change the Scanmail build # to Build 1584. It stays the same. From what I can see it installs four new files in the trendmicro library. I have backed up those files and have tested un-installing the hotfix manually. I suggest you do the same. On another note Scanmail for Domino V3 is out for Windows platform. I have tested it, and it seems pretty straight forward, but this new version when installed does not fully migrate existing content filter rule sets. They have added new features in their designs which make searching the Quarantine log easier. I actually applied the ScanMail Quarantine Log template to my existing 2.6 build which contains lots of documents, works well. Let's see if they can get content filtering to work on the iSeries. If you send the notifications to more than one person. I am downloading a file from their ftp site that is named SMLN2.6SP1_Hotfix_(EN)_AS400_B1557.zip and takes 19521663 bytes. Of course their ftp site ends with .ph http://www.andrewu.co.uk/tools/domaincountries/default.asp Remember, not that you need it for pattern file downloads, but if you want scan engine downloads you need to give QNOTES *ALLOBJ authority. I found one potential workaround on the NSD's. Seems that once you have pupdate on a program document it tries to run it every time you restart the server. In that case I did a WRKOBJ *ALL/PUPDATE*. I renamed the two copies out there to PUPDATEB. Then I brought the server up and it worked. Used option 9 to make sure all tasks were up. Then I waited a couple more minutes. Then I did another WRKOBJ *ALL/PUPDATE*. I renamed them back. Then I did a load pupdate -debug and at least it doesn't down the server. Maybe it's just like how notes loves to play games with my notes.ini and concatenate lines. Perhaps trend likes to come up all the way before it runs a pupdate??? I'll keep you posted on the hotfix. We are putting 2.6sp1 on our cluster backup server. We still have 2.51 on our primary servers. For example if you are running Sametime, QuickPlace, LEI, Trend, etc. There is a very restricted set that will play well with each other. If you need help finding the charts, let me know. Without a doubt, get to R6 prior to going to V5R3 of OS/400. Another idea is to search for Redbooks, etc on the migration.
