Thank you Walter,

What does it mean if you get a long input inhibited, followed by
TCP3436-No response from remote host system within open time-out?

By the way, email arrives from external mail, such as yahoo, but not from
our Notes accounts.

I'm also looking at the following:

When I do a TRACEROUTE from our iSeries to their mail server I get:

Re: Troubleshooting SMTP

ping is an A record, Mail routes on an MX record. the MX record shows an
address of 65.40.78.139.

Also you don't want to ping.

Issue command

TELNET RMTSYS('65.40.78.139')
       PORT(25)

If you get a 220 response you have a valid connection to the remote mail
system.

http://www.zmailer.org/mxverify-cgi.html
said it was "Apparently OK!", and it only had one minor irritant with it's

failure to understand the ESMTP EHLO greeting. But I've read that a lot
of people turn that off and I don't think it's a big deal either.

Mail stays stuck in the various mailx.box files on the Domino server.

Where do I go from here?
