On a R5 client attached to an R5 server File, Database, New using the mail5 template 6,656KB File, Replication, New Replica to a R6 Server. Size on R6 server is 6,400KB. File, Database, Replace Design on the R6 server with a R6 client to the mail6 template. Size is now 13MB. Compact via File, Database, Properties. Size is now 12MB. Summary, roughly a 5 to 6 MB growth. Now, let's see if the number of documents makes a difference. **************************** Take an R5 mail file with 15,960 documents in All Documents and a size of 1,370MB. R5 client on R5 server. File, Database, New Copy from R5 server to R5 server, (didn't want to muck up the person's mail file). Resultant size is 1,357MB. File, Database, New Copy from R5 server to R6 server. Resultant size is 1,358MB. R6 client on R6 server. File, Database, Replace Design with Mail6 template. Size is now 1,364MB. A growth of (1,364 - 1,358) or 6MB, which was smaller than the entirely empty mail file done previously. Compacted the file using load compact mail/deleteme.nsf. Resultant size is 1,363MB.
